The CBIC certification examinations are conducted throughout the year and worldwide.

700 is the maximum score that is crucial to qualifying for the certificates. 300–900 is the total score range for all CBIC certifications. If candidates pass the exam, they receive only a pass message (no number score). On the other hand, a failed candidate receives a message that demonstrates their getting marks that may be between 300-699.

CBIC Certification Types with Eligibility Prerequisites

CBIC awards three credentials that are Certified in Infection Control (CIC), Long-Term Care Certification in Infection Prevention (LTC-CI), & Associate – Infection Prevention and Control (a-IPC).

CIC Exam

This certification examination tests the candidates' skills, knowledge, and experience in the IPC (infection prevention and control) field. To prove their expertise and get the certificate, candidates must pass this test on every condition. 150 are total MCQs for the CIC exam, and 135 questions out of 150 organized the candidates' results.

Certification Board of Infection Control offers two options for candidates to take the exam: physical and online.

After getting a CIC certificate, it will work for five years.  Candidates are responsible to update their credentials after this period.

Eligibility Requirements for the Certified in Infection Control

• Completed post-secondary (private or public colleges or universities) education in a health-related area.
• Required work experience (full-time employment of one-year, part-time employment of two years, or 3,000 hours of work experience in infection prevention and control)

a-IPC Exam

This exam is conducted to determine the candidates' experience in the infection prevention field. CBIC offered 100 MCQs in a-IPC exam; 85 questions out of 100 determined the candidates' results.

Eligibility Requirements for a-IPC

The Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology does not determine any eligibility requirements for a-IPC exam.

Candidates with an interest in adding advancement in their infection prevention and control field can participate in the Associate – Infection Prevention and Control exam. $310 is the application fee for this exam.

In the past, a-IPC was only valid for three years without any renewable opportunity, but now this certificate will be valid for five years with an update opportunity like CBIC's other certifications.

LTC-CIP Exam

How to Apply for CIC, LTC-CIP, and a-IPC Exam
